December 2014 Ranger Programs

There is a lot going on throughout December at Maclay Gardens! In addition to Camellia Christmas and the Ranger Programs listed below, we are also looking for volunteer docents for the historic Maclay House. A training for Volunteer Docents will be held December 13th for those interested. A December Walk in the Camellia Woods

Sunday, December 7, 2014-1:00 p.m. -2:30 p.m.
Please wear appropriate shoes and clothing for an hour and a half of walking on uneven terrain through the Gardens. The program is free with paid park entry.

A Christmas Gift for the Birds

Saturday, December 13, 2014- 9:00 a.m. -11:00 a.m.
Children up to 12 years old are invited to participate in this fun program. Join the park staff and create a pinecone bird feeder using peanut butter and birdseed. Please dress appropriately for a morning spent outdoors creating a gift for the birds.

Christmas Greenery Workshop

Tuesday, December 9, 2014-10:00 a.m. -12:00 p.m.
The public is invited to learn to create Christmas centerpieces at this Friends of Maclay Gardens, Inc. greenery arranging workshop. Pre-registration is required as space is limited. A $20.00 donation per person covers all materials needed to create your centerpiece. Please bring your own clippers.

Volunteer Docent Training

Saturday, December 13th from 2-4 p.m.
The Department of Environmental Protection’s Alfred B. Maclay Gardens State Park invites those interested in becoming a docent in the historic Maclay House to attend a training workshop. The training will take place on Saturday, December 13th from 2-4 p.m. Volunteers are only asked to work a minimum of one 4 hour shift per week while enjoying visitors from around the world and interpreting the history of the Maclay family. Park entrance fees will be waived for participants.
