The 24th Annual Tour of Gardens will be held on May 19, 2018.
Starting at 9:00am enjoy a breakfast on the grounds of beautiful Maclay Gardens State Park. A silent auction will also be held on the lawn at the garden entrance inside beautiful Alfred B. Maclay Gardens State Park
Then at 10:00am those in attendance will receive a booklet containing brief descriptions and directions to the 9 Tallahassee-area gardens that are being featured on the 2018 Tour
“The 24th annual Friends of Maclay Tour of Gardens will take place on Saturday, May 19, 2018 and once again promises to be a showcase of some of Tallahassee’s finest landscapes. This year’s Tour of Gardens will feature 8 residential gardens in addition to a gem of a large community landscape. All of the gardens are situated in the immediate Tallahassee area and within a short drive of the Park entrance.
The Tour of Gardens day begins at 9 a.m. with a continental breakfast and silent auction on the lawn at the garden entrance inside beautiful Alfred B. Maclay Gardens State Park. At 10 a.m. those in attendance will receive a booklet containing brief descriptions and directions to the 9 Tallahassee-area gardens that are being featured on the 2018 Tour. Tour-goers may then proceed on their own self-driven tour of the gardens until 5 that afternoon. Docents from the Leon County Master Gardener program will be on hand to answer questions throughout the day.
Proceeds from this 24th edition of the Tour of Gardens will go to help the Friends of Maclay Gardens in their financial and volunteer support of Maclay Gardens State Park.
Already in 2018 the Friends of Maclay Gardens have finalized the transfer of a 1acre parcel of land on Maclay Road to the Park which will serve as an additional buffer as well as providing additional parking for large Maclay events. Among the many initiatives of the Friends of Maclay in 2018 is financial support in the upgrading of the aging and somewhat inefficient irrigation system within the historic gardens.”
