Park Managers Report August and September 2017

Hello Friends! If you haven’t made it to the park in the past few months, we have a lot going on!

Summer is in full effect here at Maclay Gardens! We have had plenty of rain and hot summer days. The Recreation Area is busy with families swimming and picnicking. Lake Hall is a great place to cool off and beat the summer heat. Meanwhile the gardens are green and serene – look for an article about this in the Garden section of the Tallahassee Democrat sometime in August. Weeding and pruning have been the major focus in the gardens and the Lake Overstreet trails are always busy with visitors hiking, biking and running.

Park Staff have hosted a plethora of fun educational programs including Summer Family Adventure Day, Animal Tracks, Coral Ardisia Berry Picking Contest, and upcoming this month a Full Moon Paddle and Fascinating World of Fungi talk and walk. If you have any free time, please come join us for one of the many programs, or spend a few hours volunteering with us.

On behalf of the park staff, thank you for your support!!
